Benefits of Dermal Fillers and Botox

  • Look younger in just one treatment.

  • Customization using our "micro droplet technique."

  • No downtime.Anti- aging benefits that will slow down aging process.

Dermal fillers are products that are used to restore facial harmony by reducing or eliminating wrinkles, raising scar depressions and superficial fines lines, enhancing certain features and replacing soft-tissue volume loss. With age, our skin becomes more susceptible to wrinkles and sagging as gravity pulls the skin’s underlying structures (e.g. facial muscles) downwards. Exposure to sun and years of muscle movement, SUCH AS squinting, chewing, AND smiling, contribute to tissue breakdown and loss of fat/collagen.

Dermal fillers are used for in conjunction with neuromodulators, like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, to contour the jawline/lower face, correct volume loss in the midface/cheek areas, AND treat depressions caused by scars and wrinkles.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are designed to add volume and create an instantly lifted, firmer and contoured appearance. Dermal fillers are perfect for plumping out areas of the face such as under eyes, as well as in lips and cheeks that have lost their fullness and hydration, and for certain areas of the body such as the hands, where skin may be losing firmness and volume. The process involves an injection of hyaluronic acid based gel, a natural skin component that provides the area being treated with volume and hydration. The result is instantly fuller, revitalised and plumper skin, making it the ultimate anti-ageing solution.

Dermal fillers are the safest, most effective anti-ageing solution on the market today, offering a variety of options that create natural to dramatic volume, with results lasting from six to twenty-four months. The treatment is completely safe and requires minimal downtime, with very few side effects. Maintenance treatments are required every six to twenty-four months, and a customised treatment plan by one of our clinicians or registered nurses can be designed to meet your requirements. All procedures are performed in our Silk Medspa clinics.

About the Treatment

Healthy skin is fundamental to natural beauty. Whether we like it or not, as we age, so does our skin. Dermal fillers, consisting of a stabilised hyaluronic acid in the form of a crystal-clear gel, smooth wrinkles that appear under eyes and in other areas, and enhance lips instantly, restoring youthful resilience to the skin. Our industry-standard, product adds to the skin’s natural supply of hyaluronic acid and has been used worldwide to successfully correct wrinkles and enhance lips since 1996.The reasonable cost of dermal fillers has seen it become one of the most popular natural beauty enhancements available.

Natural Beauty for as Long as You Like

Normally, biodegradable dermal fillers gradually deteriorate, but this product has the exclusive ability of maintaining the initial volume for long-lasting effectiveness. It is able to do this because as the gel breaks down, water takes its place. The less concentrated the gel becomes, the more water is able to bind. When it is totally broken down and reabsorbed, the gel disappears from the body without leaving any foreign implant or waste. For wrinkles or facial contouring, most patients choose to have a follow-up treatment six to twelve months after the initial treatment. After a lip filler, a follow-up appointment is usually required about six months later. It is always the patient’s choice whether to continue or change the combination of treatment. The procedure is very safe and can be performed as often as you like, with few side effects from dermal fillers occurring. This product gives you the all-important flexibility to be in charge of your looks.

Hyaluronic Acid

The skin’s ability to counter the effects of time, wind, weather and environmental stresses owes much to hyaluronic acid. It naturally exists in all life and its most important function is to bind water and lubricate movable parts of the body, such as joints and muscles. Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide that is identical in all species and tissues. So far, more than twenty-seven million people all over the world have been treated with hyaluronic acid based products; even biodegradable implants are usually composed of hyaluronic acid.

The Dermal Filler Treatment

A very fine needle is used to inject small amounts of the product into the skin. After the injection, the gel binds with the water in your skin and gives natural volume to smooth wrinkles. The gel also blends with adjoining tissues and allows other nutritive elements, like oxygen, glucose and hormones, to pass between fragments of the gel. As the cells are able to pass between fragments of the gel, the result is natural and healthy looking skin. Treatment should lead to full correction, but not over correction, at each session. The treated area should be gently massaged to conform to the contour of the surrounding tissue. One treatment session takes about thirty minutes and the results are immediate. It is normal to experience slight redness and swelling near the injection site, and there may also be some other minor side effects, such as slight pain or tenderness and some itching near the injection site. The skin returns to normal one to two days after skin treatments, and up to a week for lip treatments.

Are dermal fillers safe?

The dermal fillers used at Silk Medspa is the most scientifically documented based dermal filler in the world, with extensive studies that support its safety and effectiveness. Our dermal fillers have been used in over ten million treatments worldwide during the last twelve years. The ingredients are also similar to the body’s own hyaluronic acid, which reduces the risk of allergic reaction and complications, making it completely safe to use.

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

One of the benefits of dermal fillers is that the effects are long-lasting, but not permanent. The duration of a dermal filler will depend on a number of factors such as:

  • Skin type
  • Skin condition
  • Lifestyle
  • Age

Depending on the individual, the area and the type of filler being used, follow-up treatments are normally recommended around every six to twenty-four months, making dermal fillers a cost-effective treatment.

What happens during a Dermal Filler Treatment?

During a treatment in one of our Silk Medspa locations, the dermal filler is injected into the area being treated in small amounts using a very fine needle. The process is quick, generally taking about twenty to forty minutes depending on the type selected. Dermal fillers won’t affect your facial expressions, and the benefits can usually be seen instantly.

Do dermal fillers hurt?

Some clients may experience mild discomfort; therefore, anaesthetic may be applied to the area being treated for a more comfortable treatment. Because the lips are an extremely sensitive part of the body, anaesthetic is always used for Silk Medspa patients whom receive lip fillers.

What are Neuromodulators: Botox, Dysport, Xeomin?

Neuromodulators are products used to relax overactive muscles.  Neuromodulators are most commonly injected around the eyes, brow, forehead, glabella, and neck, in order to soften existing wrinkles (by weakening the muscle that create the lines) and prevent future wrinkles from forming

Which Dermal Filler is right for me?

The dermal fillers we use are not permanent, but do stimulate collagen over time, thereby changing your aging path starting with your first treatment. Various types of fillers are available; each is designed with one or several purposes, such as wrinkle reduction or lip augmentation. Our qualified team of clinicians can determine which type of injections and what injectable filler treatments are right for you. Many of the natural fillers we use are composed of Hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally produced in our bodies. Some of the HA HYALURONIC ACID fillers we use include: Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Juvederm Voluma, and Belotero. Radiesse, a type of filler made of calcium hydroxyapatite, is generally used for more severe volume correction and lifting needs. Radiesse is a longer-lasting filler because the body forms collagen around the microspheres; adding bulk to the injected areas.

When will I start seeing the results of my Dermal Fillers procedure?

Neuromodulators begin working within a few days following treatment, however their full effect doesn’t occur until about 7-10 days post procedure.  It is important to be patient until the full results of the neuromodulator reveal themselves.

Are there any side effects associated with the Dermal Filler procedure?

Some of the most common side effects following treatment include, but are not limited to: bruising at injection site, numbness, and temporary redness, swelling, pain/tenderness, or discoloration.

Results of Injectable Fillers

The results from most dermal fillers are temporary, commonly lasting from a few months to about a year. The duration of the filler depends on the type of filler used, the goal of the treatment, and the area(s) injected. For optimal results, additional treatment sessions may be advised.

  • Bruising

  • Slight redness
